Ravin’ – a jazz/funk (with latin and reggae overtones) band founded in 1977 by Rick Morrison and guitarist/composer Hugh Brockie.

We quickly became very popular and performed regularly at The El Mocambo and many other Toronto venues. The original members were Brockie – guitar, Morrison – sax, Peter Jeffrey – trumpet, Rodney St. Amand – bass, Pablo Paul – drums, Graydon Hillock – percussion. Jack Lenz joined us on piano in the recording studio.

Ravin’ won the first Q107 Homegrown contest in 1979 with their song “Yeah For Sure” written by Hugh Brockie. The final incarnation of the group included Morrison, Brockie and Peter Jeffrey with Wayne St, John – vocals, Jack Lenz – keys, Peter Elias – bass, Dave James – drums and Marty Morrell on congas. Ravin’ was a groundbreaking and exciting band.
